Dr. Lindsay Smithen

Dr. Lindsay Smithen built her practice around a simple but increasingly rare idea: that patients deserve a physician who actually sits with them, listens carefully, and takes the time to make sure they understand what is happening with their eyes and what their options are.

Dr. Smithen completed her undergraduate education at Princeton University, where she developed the rigorous analytical foundation that has guided her medical career. She earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, one of the nation's leading medical institutions.

She then completed both her ophthalmology residency and her medical retina fellowship at Tufts Medical Center / New England Eye Center in Boston, a nationally recognized center of excellence in retinal disease. This rigorous fellowship training gave her deep, specialized expertise in the medical management of the full spectrum of retinal conditions.

After completing her training, Dr. Smithen brought that expertise to the Washington DC area, where she has built a reputation as a thoughtful, skilled, and deeply caring retina specialist.
