Welcome to the Practice
We are a boutique practice and we are genuinely glad you are here. Here is everything you need to know before your first visit with Dr. Smithen.
What to Expect
Your first appointment here is different from what you may be used to. We take our time. Dr. Smithen will review your full history, perform a thorough examination, explain exactly what she finds, and make sure every question you have is answered before you leave.
Please note: Your eyes will be dilated during your visit. Dilation causes blurry vision and light sensitivity that typically lasts 2–4 hours, so please keep this in mind when planning how you will get to and from your appointment.
What to bring
- ✓Photo ID and insurance card(s)
- ✓A complete list of all current medications
- ✓Any prior eye records, imaging, or reports if available
- ✓Your referral paperwork if you were referred
- ✓Sunglasses — your eyes will be sensitive to light after dilation
- ✓Please keep travel plans in mind — dilation affects vision for 2–4 hours
Have questions before your visit? We are a boutique practice and we are always happy to speak with you directly. Please call us.
